Occupational Therapist
An occupational therapist is needed to devise treatment programmes to increase the children’s ability to carry out activities or occupations independently, and with more confidence.

- Advising on specialist equipment to assist with daily activities;
- Helping develop a rehabilitation programme to help re-build lost skills and restore lost confidence;
- Teach anxiety management techniques;
- Mentoring children on how to control their own behaviour;
- Occasionally organizing support and rehabilitation groups for carers and clients;
- Training students and supervising the work of occupational therapy assistants;
- Any other tasks assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
- You must be at least 18 years of age by the start date of your placement;
- You must have a reasonable background and/or interest in occupational therapy, special education or social work;
- You must provide a detailed report at the end of your placement, outlining your entire experience to aid future interns and volunteers;
- You must be open minded, ready to face the challenges and obstacles you encounter;
- You must be hardworking and driven, especially when your placement gets hectic.
